Slack MCP

Search channels, summarize threads, post messages and write canvases as you

The Slack MCP server is Slack's official hosted server. Your agent can search messages and files in public and private channels, read full threads, send or schedule messages, and create canvases and lists. It acts as you, so it sees what your account sees.
This is how a feature request mentioned in passing turns into a ticket with the whole discussion attached. Pair it with Linear or Atlassian for request-to-ticket flows, or with PostHog to post launch results to a channel.

Watch out

  • A workspace admin has to approve the integration first. Ask before you plan a workflow around it.
  • Messages go out as you. Review drafts before Claude sends them.
  • Slack's normal API rate limits apply to every tool.

Slack also ships a Claude Code plugin that sets the server up for you: claude plugin install slack. Then run /mcp and sign in to your workspace. In claude.ai, add Slack from Settings → Connectors. Cursor and Perplexity are supported too.
