Google Workspace MCP

Search Gmail and Drive, write Docs and Sheets, and book Calendar meetings

Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Calendar hold most of a team's context. There are two ways to give Claude access. Claude.ai has built-in connectors for Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive, which is the fastest way in. For Docs, Sheets and more control, the community googleworkspacemcp server (MIT) covers 12 Google services with more than 120 tools.
The community server runs on your machine or on your own server, and you can limit it to the services and tool tiers you need, or run it read-only. Google's own Workspace servers are in developer preview.

Watch out

  • Emails can contain instructions aimed at AI, and Google warns about it. Don't let Claude act on an inbox without reviewing what it plans to do.
  • The community server needs your own Google Cloud OAuth client. Start with --read-only or a small tool tier.

Install

The easiest setup: claude.ai → Settings → Connectors → Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive. They then work in Claude Code and Claude Desktop too.
For the community server, create an OAuth client in Google Cloud Console, enable the APIs you need, then start it and connect Claude Code:
Terminal
