Asana MCP

Turn notes into Asana tasks, update projects and write status updates

Asana MCP is Asana's official hosted server. Your agent can read and write tasks, projects, comments and status updates, and build reports from project data. It does Linear's job for teams on Asana: notes in, tasks with owners and dates out.
It works in Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and VS Code. Pair it with Granola to turn meeting action items into tasks, or with Slack to share status updates.

Watch out

  • Unlike Linear and Notion, Claude Code needs your own client ID and secret. The claude.ai connector is the easier path.
  • An admin may need to unblock the client app in Asana's app management.
  • The old beta endpoint at https://mcp.asana.com/sse is deprecated. Use the /v2/mcp URL.

Install

The easy path is claude.ai → Settings → Connectors → Asana. Claude Code needs an MCP app from Asana's developer console first, with http://localhost:8080/callback as the redirect URL. Then:
Terminal

Loading editor...

claude mcp add --transport http --client-id YOUR_CLIENT_ID --client-secret --callback-port 8080 asana https://mcp.asana.com/v2/mcp
Claude Code asks for the client secret, then run /mcp to sign in to Asana.
