Meta Muse

Meta's personal AI agent for email, calendar, shopping and bookings, with a free tier and WhatsApp access

Muse is Meta's personal AI agent. You give it access to your email, calendar and accounts, and it handles the life admin: sorting your inbox, filling in the school form you forgot, booking movie tickets the minute they open, finding a cheaper stroller. It works in the background and comes back when something changes or when it needs your OK.
Meta announced Muse on September 8, 2026. It runs on Meta's Muse Spark model, went to the top of the App Store and Google Play within days, and is US-only for now.

What it does

  • Its own computer. Each user's agent runs on a dedicated, isolated cloud machine Meta calls Muse Secure VM. It opens a browser, fills in forms and keeps working after you close the app. You can watch the browser live.
  • Messages like a person. Talk to it in the Muse app, on the web at muse.ai, on Mac, or in WhatsApp. Since September 23 it also has its own email address and a realtime video avatar.
  • Remembers and suggests. It keeps track of what you tell it, sets up goals ("save $500 a month", "learn tennis") and offers ideas before you ask.
  • Buys things safely. Checkout uses Link by Stripe, which makes a one-time card for each purchase, so your real card number stays hidden. Partners include Shopify, Walmart, Instacart, Expedia, PayPal and Ticketmaster.
  • Uses your Mac. Since September 23 it can control apps on macOS.
  • On your face. Wake-word access through Meta's smart glasses, and the Muse Charm, a palm-sized device for using it away from your phone.

Approvals and privacy

Muse asks before it sends an email or buys anything, and shows the full order first.
The rest of the setup:
  • A separate agent called Sentinel controls Muse's internet access and asks you for permission when needed. It knows the difference between read and write access to each service.
  • Muse uses your stored passwords without being able to see them.
  • You get an audit trail of everything it did and plans to do, can set access levels per app, disconnect services and tell it to forget things.
  • Meta says conversations and VM data aren't used for ads. They are used to train models by default; you can turn that off.
  • Muse Confidential VM, which Meta says even Meta can't look into, is due before the end of 2026.

What works and what doesn't

Claire Vo called Muse "the best-designed personal agent I've tested". In her tests it managed a family calendar, set personal goals and made a one-shot family newsletter PDF from her calendar, email and the kids' schedules, "more beautiful than anything I've ever made with Claude or Codex". Buying IMAX tickets went well; buying a pair of sneakers didn't.
That's the pattern in most reviews:
  • Good: planning, research, email coordination, calendars, bookings. Date nights, packing schedules for a move, turning a saved Instagram recipe reel into a grocery list.
  • Patchy: shopping. Amazon blocked Muse on September 21, saying it didn't identify itself and appeared to store customer credentials. Meta says Muse can't see passwords or card numbers. Shopify stores allow it.
  • Sometimes unfinished: some sites need you to type in details yourself, and it couldn't message a marketplace seller directly, so it drafted the message for you to send.
There was also a 404 Media report that some phone calls placed by Muse during beta testing were completed by human call-center workers. Meta said that kind of internal testing is standard.
