Telnyx is a communications platform for SMS, voice and phone numbers. Its official hosted MCP server reaches the whole Telnyx API, so your agent can send SMS, place calls and look up phone numbers. A separate read-only server searches the Telnyx docs.
In Claude Code, it's handy for testing messaging flows and looking up numbers while you build. In your own product, it powers a field-service app that texts customers their technician's ETA, a scheduler that confirms appointments by SMS or call, or a CRM that checks a caller's number before a rep calls back. SMS runs about $0.004 per message, with a trial to start.
Alternatives
Watch out
- One generic tool can call any endpoint, including buying numbers. Use a scoped API key and approve billable actions.
- US SMS needs 10DLC registration before real traffic.
- Keep Telnyx behind human approval when the same session reads web content.
