Storybook's official MCP comes as an addon,
@storybook/addon-mcp, that serves an MCP endpoint from your running Storybook. It gives your agent your component library's documentation: which components exist, their props and their example stories. With it, the agent builds with the components you have instead of inventing a new button. It can also find the stories a change affected, preview them and run their interaction and accessibility tests. Pair it with Playwright to check the finished page in a real browser.
Watch out
- Storybook must be running for the server to answer.
- The docs tools need a components manifest. They support React frameworks plus the Vite builds of Angular and Vue; Webpack Angular and Nuxt don't get them.
- The test tool needs Storybook Test set up.
