The Semrush MCP is Semrush's official hosted server. It gives Claude the Semrush APIs: domain overview, organic research, keyword ideas, competitors, backlinks and traffic estimates. It also reads your Semrush projects, such as position tracking and site audits, without changing them.
It covers the same ground as Ahrefs with Semrush's own data. Pick the one you already pay for. Calls use the same API units as the Semrush API, with no extra fee on the Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity side.
Watch out
- The SEO data needs Semrush One Starter, Pro+, or SEO Classic Pro or Guru. These include 50,000 API units, and they go quickly.
- Each request costs units based on the report and how many rows you ask for. Ask for top 50, not everything.
- Traffic and market data need a separate Trends API plan.

Run
/mcp in Claude Code and log in to Semrush. In claude.ai, turn on the Semrush connector under Settings → Connectors and tag @Semrush in a chat. Cursor, VS Code and ChatGPT are supported too. Clients without OAuth can pass Authorization: Apikey YOUR_API_KEY.
