The Ahrefs MCP is Ahrefs' official hosted server. It gives Claude the Ahrefs API: Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, backlinks and SERP data. It's the one for competitor research: what they rank for, who links to them and what changed.
It's available on paid Ahrefs plans from Lite up, and every call spends API units from your plan. If you pay for Semrush instead, use Semrush. With no SEO subscription, DataForSEO sells similar data per call.
Watch out
- Every call spends API units from your plan, and big pulls spend them fast. Ask for top 50, not everything.
- Keys created through MCP sign-in default to 200,000 units a month. Workspace admins can change the cap per key.
- Each plan also limits rows per request, so lower tiers return shorter lists.
