Figma's official MCP server connects your agent to your Figma files. Paste a link to a frame, or select it, and the agent gets the design context it needs to build it: layout, variables and styles, a screenshot, and your Code Connect mappings to real components. Figma recommends the remote server at
https://mcp.figma.com/mcp, which doesn't need the desktop app.It also writes. With
use_figma the agent can create and edit layers in a file, and generate_figma_design captures a shipped interface back into Figma as design layers. Real use needs a paid seat. On a free plan, Framelink reads Figma files with a personal token.Watch out
- Read tools are rate limited. Starter plans and View or Collab seats get up to 20 calls a month. Dev and Full seats get 200 a day on Professional and Organization, and 600 a day on Enterprise.
- Writing to files needs a Full seat. Write tools are exempt from rate limits and free during the beta; Figma says they will become usage-based.
- Only clients listed in Figma's MCP catalog can connect.
