Chrome DevTools MCP

Debug console errors, network requests and performance traces on a live Chrome page

Chrome DevTools MCP is Google's official server that gives the agent the DevTools panels: console, network, performance traces, Lighthouse and device emulation.
Playwright clicks through the app. Chrome DevTools MCP tells you why it's slow or broken. It records traces and pulls out performance insights, shows console messages with source-mapped stack traces, and lists every network request the page made.

A real run

We traced our own design-skills article as a phone on slow 4G. The agent noticed its first trace used cached files and re-ran it in a clean browser. Then it found an LCP of 35.9 seconds and explained why: a 2880px image shown at 415px, downloading alongside 35 others.

Watch out

  • It sends usage statistics to Google by default. Add --no-usage-statistics to opt out.
  • Performance tools may send trace URLs to the Chrome UX Report API for real-user data. Add --no-performance-crux to turn that off.
  • The browser's content is exposed to the agent. Use --slim if you only need basic browsing, and avoid pages with data you don't want to share.
