Agentation is a visual feedback toolbar for coding agents. Add it to your app, click an element, write a note, and it captures what the agent needs to find the code: the CSS selector, the source file, the React component tree and the computed styles. Its MCP server sends those annotations straight to Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI, so you point at a problem instead of describing it.
It works both ways. The agent can reply in an annotation's thread, ask what you meant, and mark each note acknowledged, resolved or dismissed. It's open source. Pair it with Playwright to check the fixes at every screen size.
Tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
agentation_get_all_pending | Pending annotations across all sessions |
agentation_watch_annotations | Waits until new annotations appear, then returns them |
agentation_reply | Replies in an annotation's thread |
agentation_resolve | Marks an annotation fixed |
agentation_dismiss | Dismisses one, with a reason |
Watch out
- The server runs locally on port 4747 and listens on your machine only, so it's for development, not production.
- Keep the agent session running while you annotate; that session starts the server.
- The component tree is captured for React apps, so that's where the notes carry the most context.
Install

npx agentation-mcp doctor checks the setup. For other agents, npx add-mcp "npx -y agentation-mcp server" registers it in every client it finds.More in Top MCP servers for design.
