Apollo.io is a B2B sales database and outreach tool. Its official MCP server, launched in February 2026, lets an agent search people and companies, enrich a contact with email and phone, read job postings, and add contacts to sequences. Apollo hosts it at
https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp, and it works on any Apollo plan, including free. The older community servers that needed an API key are no longer the way in.Use it two ways. In Claude Code or claude.ai, it's a prospecting desk for sales and founders: build a lead list, research an account before a call, load the right people into a sequence. In your own product, you attach the same hosted URL to your API call so your agent can enrich every new signup or CRM record. The server signs in with OAuth only, so your product has to run the Apollo OAuth flow and pass the user's access token. For server-side enrichment with your own key, call the Apollo REST API instead.
Watch out
- Search is free, but enrichment spends Apollo credits: 1 credit for an email or demographic match, plus 8 when a mobile phone comes back. Tell the agent to search first and enrich only the people you will contact.
- Phone reveals in the Apollo API arrive later through a webhook or polling, so do not expect numbers in the same reply. Limits and credits follow each user's Apollo plan.
- Adding contacts to a sequence can start real emails. Keep sequence and contact write tools behind human approval, especially when the same session reads web pages.
Install
In Claude Code:
Terminal
Loading editor...
claude mcp add --transport http apollo https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp
Then run
/mcp, select apollo and sign in to Apollo. In claude.ai, add Apollo.io from Settings → Connectors. Apollo also ships a Claude Code plugin with /apollo:prospect, /apollo:enrich-lead, /apollo:sequence-load and /apollo:analytics: run /plugin marketplace add apolloio/apollo-mcp-plugin, then /plugin install apollo@apollo-plugin-marketplace.In your product, attach
https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp in the Claude API's mcp_servers with the user's Apollo OAuth access token as the authorization_token, or as an Authorization: Bearer header in the AI SDK. Apollo does not document an API key mode for the MCP server.
